Knee Meniscus Tears

Understanding the Meniscus

The meniscus is a C-shaped cartilage disc that cushions the knee and provides joint stability. Each knee has two — medial and lateral. Tears can be acute (from trauma) or degenerative (from gradual wear). Symptoms include pain when walking or squatting, difficulty bearing weight, and sensations of locking or giving way.
